To join NERO Chicago and NERO International, all you need to do is come to an event and pay your membership dues. If you are under 18 you must have a parent accompany you your first time to fill out a wavier. Your first time out, new membership is $35 which includes a rule book, membership to NERO Chicago and NERO International, and your first event FREE PCing at NERO Chicago. You pay yearly dues after that of $20. You do not need to do anything else before your first weekend. We have loaner weapons for you to borrow on your first weekend as well as a few weapons for purchase if you like. We also have loaner costuming if you do not have any, it is suggested that you wear dark colored clothes and good boots for your first time if you do not have costuming.

What else do you need for a weekend? We have cabins/trailers for you to sleep in which have bunk beds, most are heated. So bring anything you would need to have for an overnight trip; glasses, contacts, medication, etcetera. You should bring a few pairs of extra socks and extra shoes if you can, they can get wet. Bring extra clothes and make sure you have an extra clean pair to drive home in. During the summer months there is a shower house so bring soap and a towel. Also bring a pillow and a sleeping bag or lots of blankets. A camping mattress also makes sleeping a little nicer.

What about food? We have a tavern which serves food all day long and the vast majority of the night. Also the tavern serves breakfast and dinner on Saturday at regular times, otherwise there are drinks, snacks and sandwiches the rest of the time.
