NPCing is when a person comes to events and plays the monsters for the weekend. Here at NERO Chicago we recognize that without your help in this fashion our job would be almost impossible. If you come for the weekend to NPC we ask that you please wear dark colored clothing void of logos. Long pants and boots are highly recommended because of the uneven terrain and weeds. We also encourage people to join Monster Squad if you plan on NPCing a bunch (see below). PCs are encouraged to NPC and have rewards listed below.

Rewards for NPCing

During the event:

  • Breakfast each full day of the event

After the event:

  • Full max out for chosen character
  • 50 Goblin Points

Reward for NPCing as a PC: Each 4 hours of NPC time counts as a half blanket of experience towards your silver blanket for the event.

NERO Chicago Monster Squad Rewards and Responsibilities

If you are interested in joining NERO Chicago's Monster Squad please e-mail logistics.

Here at NERO Chicago we strive to have the best story lines and action possible. Below is a list of rewards given to each monster squad member for their dedication to helping NERO Chicago reach that goal.

During the event:

  • Breakfast each full day of the event

After the event:

  • Full max out for chosen character
  • 100 Goblin Points (+50 Gobs for each consecutive year as a member to a max of 200)
  • 2 Work hours (+1 Work hr for each consecutive year as a member to a max of 4)

In order to receive the rewards for being a monster squad member at NERO Chicago we expect you to complete the following.

First Year

  • Attend all the scheduled events and NPC. Maximum number of missed events each season to retain monster squad status is 3 events.
  • Notify Plot as soon as possible if you will miss an event. While everyone recognizes the fact that there are real world responsibilities, monster squad is a responsibility that you agreed to. It is expected that you will be at each event scheduled.

Second Year and Beyond

  • Everything above.
  • Assist Plot members in setting up modules, i.e. get weapons and costuming together.
  • Lead random encounters and help stat them.
  • Help train new monster squad members.

Each year is form January to December. If you join monster squad after May of a given year you may receive monster squad benefits that year but that year will not count towards receiving consecutive year benefits. So for example if you join in June '06 then you will not receive second year benefits until January '08.
